2024-03-24Removed images from Nature due to copyrightHEADmasterMohammad Akhlaghi-36/+63
Until now, two of the slides had images that were taken from the Nature magazine. However, Nature does not allow redistribution of its images! Therefore, by presenting its images in presentations and sharing the PDF here, we were violating its copyright. With this commit, the two images have been deleted and their slides have been adjusted to have links to the respective paper for easy clicking during a presentation (and showing them from Nature's own webpage). This issue was raised by Boud Roukema.

2022-10-25Used wikipedia commons picture for the binary imageMohammad Akhlaghi-6/+6
Until now, for the image showing a binary data analysis we were using an image without a clear copyright statement. In this commit, that image has been replaced by one from Wikipedia Commans that has a sharable copyright notice.

2022-05-15Corrected repeated word in title of one slide in short slidesMohammad Akhlaghi-1/+1

2022-05-12Added file structure of ManeageMohammad Akhlaghi-2/+13
Until now, we didn't have the file structure of Maneage in the short slides, but they were discussed during the ESO workshop. With this commit, those two slides have been added.
2022-05-12Short intro: added technical introductionMohammad Akhlaghi-93/+329
Until now, there was no technical introduction (on what is the necessity of Maneage in relation to Jupyter, Conda and Docker)! While preparing the slides for the ESO "Reproducibility and Open Science in Astronomy" meeting, I thought it will be helpful to add such a comparison.

2020-07-02Using images to start discussion on Git, for IAC science coffeeMohammad Akhlaghi-151/+82
Until now, we would immeditely jump from the part on answering the project's questions to Git branches. But this isn't too useful for someone who doesn't know Git! So to start the Git branching discussion, now we first show a small image of the workflow with a "today" printed over it. Then another one with a "tomorrow". In the next slide we abstract them to circles with hashes!

2020-06-18Compled short slides, with simple macro to cut off incrementsMohammad Akhlaghi-170/+193
The short version of the slides is now ready. There is a '\longformat' macro that will significantly increase the number of slides, but not substantially (they are just the incremental things). Some minor modifications were also made in the long version.

A first draft of the summarized slides was written for the talk in the RDA Adoption week.
2020-06-07Started working on short slides (10-15 minutes)Mohammad Akhlaghi-11/+110
The main slides have become too long, so a shorter version is necessary. With this commit, I am starting work on a short version.
2020-05-13Added slide with citations on reproducibility problems out of astronomyMohammad Akhlaghi-0/+20
This helps show the scale of the problem, and that its not only astronomy papers that are complaining.

This helps viewers feel a better connection with a standard paper.
2020-01-26More pre-displayed files in the file architecture figureMohammad Akhlaghi-0/+0
Until now, we were only showing three lower level Makefiles and configuration files, but since we don't have much Bash and Python files, I just made it four and shrank the extra space.
2020-01-22Used published version of Raul's paperMohammad Akhlaghi-2/+2
Until now, I was using the arXiv version, but now that the full PDF with the special journal format is out, I thought its better to use that.
2020-01-21Better color for directories in file architecture plotMohammad Akhlaghi-0/+0
Until now the directories were light green (similar to the Make files in the data lineage plot) which was confusing. Now that they have a different color, they can be better distinguished as directories vs. files.
2020-01-21File architecture plot in two phases, commands printedMohammad Akhlaghi-2/+36
The file architecture plot was a little crowded, so I am now first showing the files discussed in previous plots, and then showing the whole thing. Also, the 4 commands necessary to reproduce a project are added.
